A level Law

Course Introduction:

A-Level Law explores the English legal system, Criminal and Tort law, with either human rights or contract law as the third topic. Studying law enables the students an opportunity to develop their analysis and critical thinking skills, alongside many others. Students studying Law do not always go on to studying it at university or work in the legal profession, however, the transferable skills learnt will provide them with a skill set which will set them up for success no matter what they go on to do.

Law will provide students with a range of different skills including:

  • Critical thinking
  • Problem solving
  • Analysis
  • Writing
  • Presenting

Assessment:

Paper 1: Criminal Law (75 Marks) and English Legal System and The Nature of Law (25 Marks)

Paper 2: Tort Law (75 Marks) and English Legal System and The Nature of Law (25 Marks)

Paper 3: Contract Law/Human Rights (75 Marks) English Legal System and The Nature of Law (25 Marks)

Each paper is 2 hours long

Exam Board: AQA

A level Law is made up of the following:

Year 1

Criminal Law, English legal system and Law of Tort – No exams are sat in the first year of study.

Year 2

Nature of Law and Law of Contract.
